Heinrich Engelhard Steinweg is a piano maker from Germany and in 1850 he immigrated to America with his wife and eight of their nine children. Christian Friedrich Theodor Steinweg stay in Germany, and he continued making the Steinweg brand Pianos. In 1864 Steinweg family anglicized their name to "Steinway".
